Description

Base is an application for creating, designing, editing and browsing SQLite 3 database files. It's a proper Mac OS X application. Fast to launch, quick to get in to and get the data you need.
Base starts with all the basic features you need:
• Schema viewing
• Table contents viewing/editing
• Custom SQL queries
• Command logging
Then makes it all even better:
• Support for viewing and editing ALL column- and table-level constraints. From simple default values, to complex foreign keys, Base can handle it.
• Advanced table designing and altering. No need to manually type CREATE TABLE statements, from a single sheet you can add, edit and remove columns & constraints to your heart's content, maintaining or moving the original data within them.
• Quick data find & filter. Build lengthy SELECT statements with a few clicks, previewing results as you go.
• Easy SQL editing, with clear syntax highlighting and useful SQL autocompletion
• Store your commonly used SQL as snippets for easy re-use later
• Easy import, comprehensive export. Bring in data from CSV or SQL files. Export to SQL, delimited text, XML or Microsoft Excel-compatible formats.

What’s New

• Fixed a bug where Base would crash part-way through exporting some files

A great SQLite application that has been built for Mac OS from the ground up

I use SQLite (mainly through CoreData) in my Mac OS and iOS applications, and also in the development enviroments of my Ruby on Rails applications. Base allows be to quickly and easily view and edit these SQLite databases, through a very clean and simple 'Apple' like UI. All of the other alternative SQLite applications that I have tried, have had a very clunky 'cross platform' feel to them, and don't have the feature set of Base. Since I have started to use base, I haven't had to resort to the command line once to inspect or edit my SQLite databases.

Great but needs an update

Trying to edit my iPhone add database with Base is fine. It lets you get the job done which is the main thing. But it's not a pleasure to use. If you've sorted a table by a column and then edit some text in the large text pop-up window and press 'Save'… boom… the record you were working on has jumped somewhere off screen and the sort on a field you had has been forgotten. It's really frustrating.
Apart from that it has let me do everything I want and it's definitely better than editing the database through the command line.
Base is no 'Sequel Pro' for usability or basic features. I'm definitely donating £20 to Squel Pro after having paid for Base.

Much much better since update

Latest Version Of Sqlite For Mac

This new updated versions really brings this app to life.
Much much better, now considerably more user friendly than the much more expensive alternatives.
I have SQLiteManager (expensive multi-platform alternative) and it isn't nearly as refined as this.
Great app.
